The “Maine” Experience: How to Make the Most out of your Destination Wedding

June 30, 2017

Portland Schooner

Portland Schooner

Think back to one of your favorite vacations or even perhaps just a weekend getaway. What stands out the most? Most likely it’s an experience you’ve had that is truly the most special. This includes the people you were with, the food you may have eaten, and of course, the activity itself. Luckily, Portland, ME is jam-packed with possibilities for creating those special experiences and memories during your destination wedding. From sunset sailboat cruises to Island adventures – Portland provides a variety of opportunities that are sure to make your special time here full of enriching and memorable experiences. Here are a few favorites:

The Portland Schooner Co. offers tickets to enjoy a two-hour sail adventure aboard the beautiful Bagheera or Wendameen. Pack some wine, hors d’oeuvres, and enjoy the majestic views Casco Bay has to offer. (http://www.portlandschooner.com)

The Maine Brew Bus is an excellent way to see different parts of Portland while hitting all of the best craft breweries in town. Book a tour with friends and family and allow this bus to bring you to taste and see Portland’s best breweries! (https://themainebrewbus.com)

Ever wish you could take a human powered boat through the gorgeous islands and scenery in Portland’s own Casco Bay? Well, perhaps not, but it is a possibility thanks to Maine BayCycle. (And now that I’ve told you, how could you NOT want to?) This party boat boasts ten pedal stations where you and your guests can power the boat through the water. (https://www.mainebaycycle.com)

Paddle boarding is an activity that provides a fun and active way to see Portland from the other side. Portland Paddle provides paddle board rentals and lessons from the beautiful East End beach. (http://portlandpaddle.net)

Perhaps one of mine and my family’s favorite place in Maine is Peaks Island. Only a 15-minute ferry ride from Portland, this island boasts some of the most spectacular views Casco Bay has to offer. Take the ferry from Casco Bay Lines and rent a bike at the local shop right in the center of town and take your time exploring this beautiful island. (https://www.cascobaylines.com)
