My very first conversation with Celia and Jimmy was all about the ocean. Their plan was to get married at the family home where Celia summered. The home is built on the land that her Grandmother owned. She is her namesake, Celia Thaxter- a local artist and poet, who is remembered and celebrated to this day on the Isles of Shoals. Their day, and the two families coming together to celebrate was a perfect coastal Maine Wedding.
We woke up to a 90 % chance of rain. I met with Celia at 8 am and we walked out under the stunning tent and over coffee decided that if the wedding had to move to Plan B, we would make that decision, but not until the very last moment possible.
Guests arrived by bus and were greeted with champagne glasses of lemonade with Maine blueberries. We led them to the back yard and down a path on to the beach. Shoes were kicked off, guest stood, sat and perched themselves on the rocks as the ceremony started. (the sky looked a bit dark, but no rain) The ceremony was full of the most heartfelt moments, joy, laughter and tears.
What followed was incredible evening of toasts, dancing, kissing, more kissing, sparklers and celebration.
The reception ended at 10, the rain arrive at 10:15-just like I planned.
