I love my job as a wedding planner in Maine. I live in one of the most beautiful states anywhere! We have miles of coastal charm, stunning lakes, beautiful barns. We are a destination place to get married. I have lived in Maine for close to 30 years, I love all things Maine, butplease don’t ask me to plan a lobster bake for your wedding.
For those of you from away who have eaten a lobster roll, lobster mac and cheese, lobster Fra Diavolo or lobster stew, but have never cracked your own -your wedding is NOT the place to do that. Don’t get me wrong, I love lobster, all things lobster, but it is messy.
Do you really want your guests who have been drinking trying to crack a lobster and picking out the pieces? Do you really want your wedding photos to show everyone in a plastic bib? Butter stains on your dress? The smell, the shells, the cleanup. No, No and absolutely not!
How about a lobster bake for the rehearsal dinner? Or mini lobster rolls as a passed appetizer during the cocktail hour? I am all in to support the fine lobstermen and women who work long hours to bring these crustaceans to land for us to enjoy, but let’s keep it classy couples.
